Drawn from all parts of Africa, the myths and legends of the African people demonstrate a fierce sense of justice, great powers of patience and endurance, and supreme ability as story-tellers.
Industry Reviews
This collection of thirty-four diverse, unusual tales from the many parts of Africa is a fine addition to the Myths and Legends series. The author has done a careful, artful job of retelling these folktales in a lively, readable style. The turtle, the lizard, and other creatures seem to speak in character, in dialogue which reflects the folk tone without being stilted or formalized. The skillfully drawn illustrations have a primitive quality, and often reflect the mood of the tales. Readers in this age group and also young listeners, will find these stories appealing.
