After bearing an illegitimate child, society woman Josephine Monaghan (Suzy Amis, Titanic) is driven out of town - left to live out the rest of her life in the shadows of disgrace. However, Josephine soon discovers that a lone woman out on the road is easy pickings for wayward cowboys and travelling scoundrels.

Disguising herself as a boy, Little Jo saddles up and holds her own against ruthless outlaws, desolate conditions and the many perils of the rugged landscape, until she risks everything by falling for the one man who discovers her secret.
