Trained as an electrician and never wired a house, a fighter pilot and never fired a shot in anger.

Flew jumbo jets and didn't marry a hostie and now prospects for gold and hasn't yet found the mother lode.

He does have two sons and two daughters.

He has played in a national golf championship inside what was then the iron curtain, trekked the Himalayas and, with his family has skied and ridden horses on most countries on this planet.

He doesn't live in Cottesloe.

In his early sixties he awoke one morning to a voice that said, "Buy a yacht and sail around the world."

Years later another voice said, "Now write the book."
