Booktopia Comments
An absolutely fantastic gift for anyone who has an interest in military history. Please understand it is a dictionary and reference book. But it is so thick with 1,350 pages. It is so comprehensive that any one who is interested will spend time just flicking from one page to the other reading up on interesting pieces of history. Great value at this price. Highly recommended.
Product Description
This is the most extensive and comprehensive dictionary of battles and sieges ever published in English, with more than 8500 meticulously researched entries.

This dictionary offers easy-to-find A-Z entries that cover conflicts from practically every era and place of human history. It includes history's best known battles as well as exhaustive coverage of World War II, World War I, the American Civil War, medieval wars and conflicts during the classical era. It also covers battles fought in pre-modern Africa, the Middle East, Ancient and Medieval India, China and Japan, and early meso-American warfare.

With a foreword by Professor Dennis Showalter, former president of the American Society for Military History, Battles and Sieges has been reviewed by an International Editorial Board of eminent military historians to ensure accuracy and to provide the broadest possible coverage.
