Utterly splendiferous: The kids books that should be read this month.

Welcome! My name is Emily and I edit the Kids Buzz at Booktopia. I may have grown up, but I will NEVER grow out of children’s books. From Aaron Blabey’s picture books to The 78-Storey Treehouse, from Roald Dahl to Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, I read it all.

Don’t Call Me Bear

Marge in Charge is a wondrously funny collection. There are three stories in the book, featuring Jemima, Jake and their amazing babysitter Marge, who is incredibly tiny, and grew up in a palace! She always adds something fun to the to-do list Mum leaves behind.

I absolutely wish that I had had a babysitter like Marge – and I’m very tempted to try my hand at the chocolate soup she creates! The illustrations by Eglantine Ceulemans are also just fantastic! Learn More

A Child of Books

This is the greatest gift you can give a book lover… of any age.

The Hungry Isle

I absolutely ADORED Deltora Quest when I was little, and was unbelievably thrilled to discover the new series, Star of Deltora. It is a wonderful story, set in the fantasy world of Deltora. The series follows Britta, a young girl who is determined to become Apprentice to the famed Trader Mab.

The Hungry Isle is the final book – so much action is packed in! There are twists and turns galore! The series is a fantastic book for all kids – whether they loved the original Deltora Quest stories, or if they’re new to Emily Rodda’s marvellous world! Learn More.

The 78-Storey Treehouse
by Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton

The boys are BACK! The treehouse has 13 new levels – there’s a drive-thru car wash, Andyland (populated by Andy clones), Terryland (full of crazy Terry clones), a combining machine (make crazy animal hybrids!), and so much more.

In this book, the boys aren’t hurrying to write another story for their angry publisher, as they were in the other stories. This time, there’s a movie-maker in town! Mr Big Shot wants to make a movie about the boys, but he doesn’t like the way they always do things. So much crazy treehouse action is packed into this book!
