Liane Moriarty, Jimmy Barnes, Candice Fox, and Tracey Spicer to attend the 2017 Sydney Writers’ Festival.

The 20th Sydney Writers’ Festival, under new Artistic Director Michaela McGuire will run from May 22 – May 28.

Tied together by the theme of REFUGE, it will offer 400 events with over 450 writers attending locations across greater Sydney. Free events make up approximately 40% of the program.

More than 400 Australian authors from across the country will attend the festival. Featured authors will include:
– Saroo Brierley, the subject of the recent hit film, Lion
– Liane Moriarty, author Big Little Lies, which has recently been adapted into a TV series.
– Candice Fox, crime author of Crimson Lake; has collaborated with James Patterson.

– Nikki Gemmell, author of the recent memoir, After.
– Andy Griffiths, author of the Treehouse series of books with illustrator Terry Denton.
– Jimmy Barnes, iconic rock legend and author of Working Class Boy and the children’s book, Oche Aye The G’Nu.


– Tracey Spicer, media personality whose memoir, The Good Girl Stripped Bare, will be released this month.
– Hannah Kent, author of Burial Rites and The Good People.
– Melina Marchetta, author of Tell the Truth, Shame the Devil and Looking for Alibrandi.

Tim Costello, Robert Dessaix, Ali Cobby Eckermann, Clementine Ford, Stan Grant, Richard Fidler, Anita Heiss, Tom and Meg Keneally, Di Morrissey, A.S. Patric, John Safran, Graeme Simsion, and Peter Stefanovic will also be attending.

In a Festival first, the Sydney Writers’ Festival will be dedicating a full day to Young Adult fiction at Parramatta’s Riverside Theatres. All Day YA runs Saturday 27 May. On Sunday 28 May, the whole of Walsh Bay’s Pier 4/5 will be converted into a children’s book wonderland for Family Day.
