Lee Holmes: Diversity is key.

by |February 21, 2018

Look left. Look right. Heck, look up and down, if you will. There are so many diets and fads out there for you to try and the question remains: which one do you follow? Well, to each their own, but here’s another option for you in case you haven’t heard of Supercharged Food.

Enter Lee Holmes, who discovered supercharged foods after she was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease in 2006. Eager to find a drug-free solution, she became a keen food and health researcher and developed a diet regime that led to her full recovery.

“Supercharged food will help you feel amazing and improve your health through diet and nutrition and healthy lifestyle tips.” – Lee Holmes

Lee has had many successful and bestselling books on the topic, including Supercharged Foods, Heal Your Gut: Supercharged Food and Fast Your Way to WellnessNow Lee is back with her latest – Supercharge Your Gut – and we thought it only prudent to get Lee in to chat to us about this important topic.

“What’s really in charge of our thoughts and emotions is our gut health and that’s why it’s the epicentre to health,” says Lee. “It’s also connected to the immune system. So you have another immune system that sits in your gut and 70-80% of immune tissue sits in there. So looking after it means you’re looking after your immune system.”

A big section of Supercharge Your Gut is about food and ways to heal the gut layer by layer. For those of you thinking ‘I have no idea about gut health’, fear not! Lee takes you through it step-by-step, starting at the beginning with how to sooth and heal the gut lining, before moving onto what foods proliferate the good bacteria in the gut.

About the Contributor

Before entering the exciting world of books, Bronwyn served in the Royal Australian Air Force, travelled extensively and worked (still does!) as a barista on the weekends. Books are her true passion. Bronwyn's debut fantasy novel Relic is coming out in 2019 with indie publishing house Talem Press. They are to publish her entire trilogy called The Relic Trilogy. In her spare time, Bronwyn writes, reads and enjoys keeping fit (which she undoes by eating loads of chocolate) with Martial Arts and personal training. She can't answer what her favourite book is but she has a soft spot for Peter Pan (J.M Barrie), Outlander (Diana Gabaldon), Stardust (Neil Gaiman), The Illuminae Files (Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman) and Six of Crows (Leigh Bardugo). Fantasy, sci-fi and YA make up the majority of her bookshelves.
