David Walliams’ new book, The Beast of Buckingham Palace, has been announced and it sounds:
a) incredibly awesome, and
b) quite a bit different from his previous work!
Kids (and booksellers) everywhere have been waiting anxiously for news about the next Walliams book, and The Beast of Buckingham Palace is pretty much guaranteed to be one of the most requested Christmas presents of the year. Though the book is to be published on the 21st of November, details have been kept strictly under wraps – until now.
At last, we have a title, a cover and a description! Here’s what’s been released by HarperCollins:
The year is 2120. London is in ruins, the people are hungry and darkness has fallen across the world. Prince Alfred, a sickly boy of 12, has never known life outside Buckingham Palace. But evil forces are at work, and soon Alfred must do battle with the King of the Beasts – the Griffin.
Walliams says that this new book represents something of a different direction for his writing.
“This book is a real departure for me. It is a science-fiction fantasy adventure set in London 100 in the future. I hope my readers will love coming on this magical journey with me,” he says.
David Walliams is one of the most popular and fastest growing children’s book authors in the world. His junior fiction novels have been published in 53 languages and his sales numbers just keep going up, year after year.
The Beast of Buckingham Palace is set in the future and will introduce readers to a world of fantastical creatures and magical adventure. It also promises to deliver a truly “Machiavellian” villain. An audiobook edition is due to be released next year and is rumoured to have a “star-studded” cast.
