You read that right! Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has announced a new children’s book, The Ickabog. It’s a standalone story that is unrelated to the world of Harry Potter (or Cormoran Strike, which is probably a good thing), and has been described by Rowling as “a story about truth and the abuse of power” in the form of a fairytale.

The book is going to be available in November, but Rowling is releasing it in serialised form for free on her website, over the next seven weeks. You can read it by visiting https://www.theickabog.com/. There’s also a competition for people to share their illustrations inspired by the tale, and Rowling has announced that all her royalties from the published edition will be donated to help people affected by coronavirus.
