The time of Booktopia’s second annual Favourite Australian Book Award has come and gone, and if there’s one thing we learnt it’s that Aussie readers REALLY love Aussie books. The 2020 FAB Award saw a record-setting 157,000 people cast their votes for the 127 amazing books that made up our longlist. The winner was announced yesterday (congratulations again to Nat’s What I Reckon!), but if you’re anything like us, you’ll be curious to know who else was in the running for the top spot.
So settle in and scroll down to see all of the books that made it in to the Top 50 for the 2020 FAB Award! The results may surprise you …

Nat’s What I Reckon was the tattooed lockdown saviour we didn’t know we needed, rescuing us from packet food, jar sauce and total boredom with his hilarious viral recipe videos that got us cooking at home like champions again.
Now that we’ve cooked our way out of lockdown and are wondering what the hell to do next, our favourite ratbag is back – and he’s ready to teach us more about life in this thoroughly unhelpful (but maybe actually kinda helpful?) self-help guide…
