Lynette Noni’s Prison Healer trilogy comes to an epic end with the release of The Blood Traitor this week and can I just say, woooohoooo! What a spectacular ride it has been! Between all the mind-exploding plot twists, the breathtaking romance, the heartstopping adventure, and not one but TWO thrilling cliffhangers, this series has catapulted me through the full spectrum of human emotions. I normally try to limit myself to one body-related adjective per review, but in all honesty I can’t be so limited here. My mind was exploded, my breath was taken, my heart was stopped, and my gut was wrenched. It was awesome.
If there is anyone out there reading this who is somehow unfamiliar with Lynette Noni’s massively bestselling YA fantasy series, allow me to give you a quick rundown of events …
The Prison Healer was released in March 2021, followed by The Gilded Cage in September 2021. Now, as of May 31st, the final book of the trilogy is out in the world and let’s just pause for a moment to appreciate that timeline. The entire Prison Healer trilogy has been published in just a little over a year — an impressive achievement by any standards and a most generous gift to readers who I’m sure share my joy in not being left dangling on those cliffhanger endings for too long! I am not a patient person. Cliffhangers wound me to my soul. Of course I also can’t help enjoying them, but nevertheless it’s very, very nice to have such a short wait between books!
I will now give a brief overview of what readers can expect in The Blood Traitor, but please be warned you may encounter some spoilers for the first two books in the trilogy below. I will not spoil any plot points of The Blood Traitor, but if you haven’t yet read The Prison Healer or The Gilded Cage then proceed with caution!
Are you sure you want to continue?
Remember, there’s no turning back!
I’m about to say something that will give away the ending of Book 2 now, so don’t say I didn’t warn you!!
Okay, so remember how The Gilded Cage ended on that torturous cliffhanger with Kiva getting thrown back into the hellish nightmare of Zalindov? Well, The Blood Traitor opens right where we left off and my heart broke for Kiva as she (with the aid of an unlikely ally) struggles to survive the bleak brutality of the prison. As always in this series, the action is pretty non-stop and before long, Kiva is plunged back into another epic quest to save the kingdoms of Wenderall and the people she loves.
Readers will be on the edge of their seats as this dynamic fantasy series hurtles towards its triumphant conclusion. I loved getting to hang out with this charming crew of characters and was sorry to see their story end, but perhaps the best part of reaching the end of a series is that it gives you the perfect excuse to go back to the beginning and start again!
Highly recommended to fans of Sarah J. Maas, Brigid Kemmerer, and Lexi Ryan.

The Blood Traitor
The Prison Healer: Book 3
Kiva thought she knew what she wanted - revenge. But feelings change, people change . . . everything has changed.
After what happened at the palace, Kiva is desperate to know if her friends and family are safe, and whether those she wronged can ever forgive her. But with the kingdoms closer to the brink of war than they’ve ever been, and Kiva far away from the conflict, more is at stake than her own broken heart.
A fresh start will mean a perilous quest...
