Presented in an easy-to-ready format, Small Animal Imaging: Self-Assessment Color Review offers a case-based approach to reviewing and interpreting images and developing a differential diagnosis when necessary. Each case begins with the patient's age, gender, breed, and species. The reason the patient was brought to the clinic is discussed along with preliminary examination and diagnostic test findings. The book

  • Covers nearly 200 cases with supporting high-quality images for each case
  • Provides detailed answers for each case, including radiographic findings and diagnosis
  • Is written by well-respected experts in the field.

A separate section presents detailed answers for each case including information on the radiographic findings. Also included are the radiographic diagnosis, comments, and notes on whether further imaging or evaluation is needed.

This guide helps practitioners to develop a systematic approach to reviewing images. The easily-navigable text reminds practitioners of the basics in radiography and ultrasound interpretation and diagnosis, making it a quick and convenient reference.

Industry Reviews

Small Animal Imaging: Self-Assessment Review is a well-organized compilation of clinical cases and is simply divided into 3 parts: abdomen, thorax, and musculoskeletal system. It has an index at the back in addition to a listing of broad classifications of cases in the front, which enables readers to easily locate information regarding a specific type of case. The text is minimal and easy to follow and understand.

- Rachel Schochet, DVM, MS, DACVR, Petrays, Idaho in JAVMA, Vol 253, No. 6, September 2018

After providing labelled reference images for the normal dog and cat radiographic anatomy, the book is divided into three sections - the thorax, abdomen and musculoskeletal system. Each section is subdivided into questions and answers. Setting the book out in this way encourages the reader to work through the cases of common diseases, rather than simply looking at the model answers. The answers section contains concise yet helpful information and the provision of a final case diagnosis could act as a prompt for further reading as necessary. The radiographic images used in this book are generally excellent quality. The succinct nature of the text makes the book an easy read and the contents and index pages make navigation straightforward. These aspects make it a perfect quick reference guide as well as a great way to test diagnostic radiology skills on the go.In conclusion, this book offers a valuable introduction to radiographic interpretation in small animals, and offers plenty of cases for veterinary students to test and improve on their current knowledge. It is highly recommended and well worth the price as a both a revision guide and reference book.
