Do you sense that something is missing from your spiritual life? Do you struggle with temptation, doubt, or anger? Do your trials rob you of joy? Does your prayer life seem hollow? Do you wonder how to plan your next move, make peace with others in your life, how to live free of hypocrisy? Take heart! The Book of James explains how you can become a "complete" (teleios) Christian whose inner life is lived with the kind of skill that produces works that please God.

In this book, Jay Adams will lead you through the Book of James and explain how James helps you with these and other issues. You can learn to become a "whole" Christian who, in a very real sense, has it all together.

Industry Reviews

Jay Adams changed my life. Reading his books and learning from his wisdom was absolutely foundational for me, not just as I learned how to engage in counseling that is authentically biblical, but also as I learned to think biblically about an entire host of issues. Jay Adams is biblical counseling's great grandfather. There is no biblical counseling author, leader, or practitioner that cannot draw a direct line from their ministry to the founding work of Dr. Adams. That means that neither your theological education nor your counseling training is complete until you have sat long at his feet, reading as much of him as you possibly can.

--- Dr. Heath Lambert, Sr. Pastor, First Baptist Church, Jacksonville, FL, Author of A Theology of Biblical Counseling and Finally Free

Picking up my copy of A Thirst for Wholeness reminded me of going back to my hometown, driving streets so familiar, and walking across the hills of my childhood. My quest to understand James began over 20 years ago. In that initial effort, Jay's NT commentary and this work both served me well. Jay's clarity and insight provided a rich foundation for my thinking. In the years since, possibly thousands have benefited from my initial study. I rejoice in the reprint as an opportunity to introduce many others to the incredible themes of the Book of James for daily living as a mature follower of Christ.

--- Dr. Kevin Carson, Department Chair of Biblical Counseling, Baptist Bible College and Seminary, Springfield, MO; Pastor Sonrise Baptist Church, Ozark, MO

So what? That's the question we should ask when we read anything, especially God's word. As believers, we are expected to walk in the newness of life. However, life's issues and circumstances confront our beliefs and we need God's wisdom to know how to navigate those circumstances in a way that honors him. Jay has been a grace from God to help us learn how to put God's word into practice and his study through the book of James is no exception.

--- Dr. Andrew Rogers, Executive Director, Overseas Instruction in Counseling

This book is classic Jay Adams as he models how wise counseling conversations from Scripture can take place. Numerous practical issues are addressed with wisdom and clarity using various passages from the book of James. I could hear his voice as I read this useful little book.

--- Dr. Jim Newheiser, Professor of Counseling and Pastoral Theology, Reformed Theological Seminary, Charlotte; Executive Director IBCD
