Anna Sewell (30 Mar 1820 - 25 Apr 1878) was an author of children's books, best known for the classic novel Black Beauty. Sewell was born in into a devoutly Quaker family. When she was fourteen, she slipped and severely injured both of her ankles, she was never able to walk normally ever again. While seeking to improve her health in Europe, Sewell encountered various writers, artists, and philosophers, to which her previous background had not exposed her. "Black Beauty" is a children's novel. It revolves around a horse, "telling" its own biography to the reader by itself. Beauty's story is full of dramatic turns and thrilling events. This book will show you an eloquent picture of XIX century England and give a better understanding of horses.
