When will this arrive by?
Dieter Paesano exploits the greed of small business "entrepreneurs" operating on the fringes of the gold industry in Africa. They are attracted by any proposition, risky or not, which leverages their investment stake. However, Paesano is running out of projects, the financial returns are falling and the punters are getting restless. He resorts to strong-
arm tactics to keep them compliant and puts his thuggish minder, Shorty to work. He ensures complaints reduce as investors disappear ? Fortuitously, a really exciting proposal comes across Paesano's desk, one that has been passed over by the major mining houses. Dr Richard Curie, a scientist of high industry repute has developed intellectual property that enables gold to be won from low value ore. The IP has been bench-tested, but requires further funding to prove its practicality. Paesano buys out Curie's interest on a "success only" basis. He teams Curie with another scientist and locks them away in a secret secure house to thwart competitors.
It now seems unlikely that the dishonourable Paesano will complete his side of the deal. The scientists begin to fear for their lives as violence escalates ?
About the Author
Ian Cordiner graduated as a Civil Engineer at Witwatersrand University in Johannesburg. There was growing political unrest in South Africa and he soon left for the UK to work on major construction projects.
Then, in his thirties, he made a significant career change, joining a leading international business consultancy and migrating to Australia. This move away from engineering was the foundation for decades of business consulting and restructuring advice that led to general management, governance and change management roles in six widely different organisations. He has previously written a memoir, The Accidental Headhunter, a thoughtful, yet lighthearted, look at risk and coincidence as they have impacted on his life and those six careers.

Industry Reviews
“Ian Cordiner brings the shady and deadly underbelly of international financial dealings to life in this vividly described edge of the seat thriller set amid the corruption of 2010 Johannesburg.
Richard Curie should have trusted his instincts, but when a highly lucrative offer is made by a small South African firm to put into practice his theoretically sound gold extraction methodology, the prospect of both recognition and financial security are too tempting. Arriving at the highly secure compound which is to be his base, it quickly turns out that Richard is more prisoner than guest and this is not going to be an easy ride. Matters are further complicated by the presence of another scientist, Margrit, who, it turns out, is Richard’s new boss’s ex-wife.
He may have been able to deal with the big boss, Paesano, with his mysterious South American links, but Paesano’s muscle man, Shorty, is in a league of his own when it comes to heavy handed interference. And then there’s the womanising Nick, in charge of the finances and so crooked it’s hard to work out exactly who he’s cheating of what.
Bullied by thugs, and pushed hard from all sides to get on and prove his method works, Richard’s initial unease quickly turns to fear. Cautious approaches from Margrit leave him wondering how much he can trust her, while the rapid unravelling of Paesano’s complex international and illegal financial web leaves Richard playing a cat and mouse waiting game while he attempts to extricate himself from a deadly situation.
Full of rich detail, with a robust cast of characters and twists and turns to keep you guessing, Bloody Moon has you turning the pages fast until its dramatic conclusion.”

“I have been gripped by the story…it is a clever plot and perfectly captures the atmosphere of the Highveld region of Johannesburg". I found it highly readable and definitely a good techno thriller.”
-Anthea Serritslevv
Retired Chief Whip & Alderman, City of Cape Town
“Combine the youthful exuberance of WE Johns with the mature sophistication of Le Carre and you have an inkling of the pedigree of Bloody Moon.
This page turner set in South Africa is full of goodies and baddies ,villains and victims. And while the plot develops in a structured way there are constant surprises which draw the reader on. Lurking in the background are wealth and poverty, affluence and squalor, hatred and tolerance, cruelty and tenderness. The range of characters, each authentic and believable carry the plot at breakneck speed.
While the book is a great read, it cries out to be made into a film with Bond like characteristics. Hopefully we can all look forward to its second incarnation "

“Bloody Moon is a fast paced and engaging thriller set in modern South Africa. Gold mining innovation, intellectual property rights, arms dealing and international financial corruption form the scenario for the story. However, it is also about interesting people - both good and bad. I really enjoyed reading it”.

Company Director & Strategy Consultant
"With Bloody Moon Ian Cordiner has turned the murder mystery thriller on its head. When you expect a twist there’s a turn. Invoking a sense of place akin to Dan Brown, this is a trip you’ll want to take."
-Glenda May
Psychologist, Executive Coach & Author
“This techno-thriller is a cracker as it pushes the boundaries of narrative, reality and character in an episodic plot-line that surprises and alarms—but never disappoints.
-Dr. Mike Richards

"A great yarn showing human nature's lust for gold and the depths some resort to get it. Cordiner blends his country knowledge with his technical knowledge to deliver this fast paced story."
