Bonnie Garmus, born on April 18, 1957, is an accomplished copywriter and creative director with extensive experience in the realms of technology, medicine, and education, is not only a dedicated professional but also an open-water swimmer, a rower, and the proud mother of two remarkable daughters.
Originally hailing from California and most recently residing in Seattle, she currently calls London home, sharing it with her husband and her canine companion, 99.
In April 2022, Garmus celebrated the publication of her debut novel, Lessons in Chemistry. The Guardian praised the book for its "polished, funny, thought-provoking story," expressing disbelief that it was a debut. The New York Times lauded its "entertaining subplots and witty dialogue."
By January 2022, Lessons in Chemistry had secured publishing deals in 35 territories and was slated for a television adaptation by Apple TV+, featuring Brie Larson. The French translation, titled La Brillante destinée d'Elizabeth Zott, was published by Éditions Robert Laffont in May 2022. The book earned a spot on the shortlist for the 2023 RSL Christopher Bland Prize.
