Waiting Out the Storm

About The Author

I write poetry, picture books, nonfiction, and novels for children and young adults. My newest books are the rhyming picture book Waiting Out the Storm (Candlewick, 2010) and the nonfiction picture book Flip, Float, Fly: Seeds on the Move (Holiday House, 2008). I’ve also written more than one hundred nonfiction books for the school and library market.

I earned an M.F.A. in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Vermont College. I received the Barbara Juster Esbensen Poetry Teaching Award, and I love to speak to children and adults about poetry and writing.
