We can all agree what the prevalent mood seems to be these days: Hysteria! And what the hell’s wrong with that?! The world seems to be taking a turn for the worse, so we let 14 of the world’s leading comic creators and more than 30 of the very best illustrators take the theme of Hysteria for a whirl. Hopefully they’ll shed some light on all the madness.

Forty-five artists have risen above (or maybe plunged even deeper into) their hysterical minds to produce double page illustrations or four-page-long comics. Jim Rugg, Emmanuelle Walker, Sam Bosma, Marta Monteiro, David Lucas, Kenard Pak, Bob Flynn, Keith Negley, Carmen Segovia, Gwendal Le Bec, Robin Davey, Andrea Kalfas, William Grill, Luke Pearson, Dustin Harbin, José Domingo, Matteo Farinella and Dilraj Mann are just some of the illustrious names who have let their hysterical drawings loose on Nobrow 8’s pages.

Just like Nobrow 6 and Nobrow 7, Nobrow 8 is in actual fact two magazines rolled into one and sealed with a double cover. With Nobrow 8, we are continuing to publish the very best of illustration and narrative art from newcomers and veterans in the UK and around the world.

The thing that I find irresistible about it is the sheer volume and variety of material on offer: a kaleidoscope of art styles, ideas and approaches...-Zainab Akhtar, Comics and Cola The comics in Nobrow 8 take you deep into psychological realms in keeping with the -hysteria- theme, but like any good anthology, posing the subject matter gives the artists an opportunity to display for the record the virtually endless variety of concepts a single word can prompt.-Bleeding Cool Removing this comic from its packaging reminded me of the first time I picked up a copy of Read Yourself Raw in a university bookshop as a teenager -- the same heady rush of holding a volume that felt, and smelled, as good as it looked. A book designed as a piece of art in and of itself.-Robot 6 Something of a manic publication -- but not stressful manic, manic as in your eyeballs are at a party. Much better.-It's Nice That Printed with 4 spot colors, Nobrow 8 has an unusual color palette but it's one which works quite well, tying the work of all 45 artist together nicely. It's occasionally quite bold and brash, but considering the 'hysteria' theme this works quite well.-The Fox Is Black
