To save the day, kids will help the following characters in crazy outfits find the proper attire:

  2. A gardener in her Sunday best

  3. A conductor in pajamas

  4. An Arctic explorer in summer swimwear

  5. A hockey goalie in a cook's clothing

  6. A firefighter in a fancy suit

  7. A ballerina in hiking clothes

  8. A car wash attendant in a suit

  9. A sailor in a polka-dotted shirt

  10. An officer work in a farmer's overalls

  11. A doctor dressed like a welder

  12. A flight attendant dressed like a rock star

  13. A chimney sweep in medical scrubs

With these wacky and colorful illustrations depicting funny situations and crazily dressed people, kids will be drawn into various scenes and encouraged to help the zany characters pick the right clothing and accessories for each profession. Along the way, they will learn about appropriate attire for different jobs. Silly questions such as, "Do orchestra conductors wear pajamas to work?" and "What happens when a ballerina dances in hiking books?" are explored, adding a fun and lightly educational aspect to the book, which offers an interactive experience that encourages creativity and problem-solving.

This book is perfect for young readers aged 3-6 who enjoy funny situations and are interested in fashion, clothing, and what we wear in different circumstances. Equally suitable for a parent looking for a fun activity to share with their child or a teacher seeking a unique way to teach about professions, this book offers an opportunity for children to learn about different types of clothing, accessories, and events while also improving their decision-making skills. The colorful and engaging illustrations will captivate children immediately, making this book a great addition to any young reader's collection.

Industry Reviews

Selected for The Children's Book Council's March 2024 "Hot Off The Press" Reading List

"How unique and intriguing! I've never seen an interactive book where the young reader gets to pick out proper clothing for various occupations! As an adult, even I had fun looking through the options to pick out the appropriate gear to fit each situation. The crazy outfits each person starts with are humorous and readers get a chance to explore various activities shown. This would be a good gift for a young child as there's the ability to actually write in the book if you own it." -Netgalley-Librarian

"I can imagine young kids going through this book time and again, poring over the pictures of people in the wrong work clothing and marveling over new things they notice each time they look. I love the message of this book, about how the utility of clothing changes depending on what you want to do. Jana Sedlackova shows with humor, accuracy and energy how a mask suitable for the opera will not protect a firefighter, and how hiking boots, while sturdy and practical for many things, won't help a ballet dancer get through her performance. Each page spread gives the humorous depiction of a person wearing a wildly inappropriate selection, and on the other side is a labeled collection of what that person would wear, plus the equipment they'd use. A nice book that will be enjoyed by a wide variety of children." -Marsha, NetGalley-Reviewer

"This would be good to have at a home library or a book for kids to read for fun in the classroom." -Christine R., Netgalley-Educator

"It is fun to think about what if they wore the wrong things!" -Vicky Z., Netgalley-Educator

"Wonderfully creative vocabulary book! The story is fun, and the illustrations are bright and entertaining. Great cute book!" -NetGalley-Educator

"Majova's illustrations have a goofy, angular aspect to them reminiscent of pictures by Sid Fleischman or Tony Ross and Quentin Blake. This makes the inappropriate gear seem even funnier. It is never too early to encourage young readers to explore the world of work! I'm a big fan of exposing children to a wide variety of employment opportunities." -Karen Yingling, YA Books Central

"Wow, I just reviewed an earlier entry in what seems to be a series, and this book is basically the same but focusing on work clothes: what clothes should you wear to different workplaces. Still lovingly illustrated, with lots of detail." -Alexander Peterhans, Reviewer
