The principles of Behavioural Activation, and how conscious breathing can change our state of being.Braith has been a business owner for many years. In spite of commercial success, he always had a strong sense that something was missing. After a period of extreme stress and anxiety, with symptoms that culminated in the facial paralysis Bell's palsy, Braith recognised he needed to find the missing piece, although he still wasn't sure how. Carrying out exercises to overcome Bell's palsy, which included practicing smiling, Braith found that his stress and anxiety began to decrease. Thinking back to his psychology degree, Braith recognised that this was Behavioural Activation Theory, or 'fake it till you make it'. His brain couldn't tell the difference between smiling as an exercise, and smiling because he was happy. Braith began to explore the concepts of laughter yoga and conscious breathing, and became a certified instructor in both practices. By combining his knowledge of business, psychology, laughter,, and conscious breathing, to create a simple and accessible way for professionals to reduce their stress, increase their wellbeing, and reconnect with themselves and others, Braith has created a system of conscious breathing that is easily applied in both a professional and personal context.
