Circling The Wagons is a first-hand account of an adult survivor's struggles to reclaim her life after dealing with childhood sexual abuse hidden within a family environment. This book is written for other survivors or family/friends of survivors. To get a true, in-depth, raw and honest look into the devastating effects hidden childhood sexual abuse can have, when it is not dealt with for decades and to understand the process survivors go through in their journey to heal. It is a guide on how to navigate the family circumstances that surround intra-familial abuse and find a light at the end of the tunnel. There are thought-provoking and learning experiences written throughout this book. This book explains to other survivors just why they have felt the way they have their whole life. It explains in simple terms how the trauma from their abuse, has impacted their adult lives, including the silencing from their family members at times. Written from someone who has lived through her own trauma, but finally found the answers from her lived experience and knowledge, to help others move forward also.

Industry Reviews

What a powerful message you're giving to survivors of all types of abuse! This is not your secret, it's your story; So many people will feel seen and heard with this book; Deb was really able to capture the environment that is created for a child who is betrayed by people who are meant to protect them. A thought provoking read; Deb courageously steps into her truth to shine a light on intra-familial child sexual assault and the family systems that perpetuate and conceal it; Your journey has not defined you as a person, but one that will inspire others to stand up and be heard and hopefully let the healing begin; Deb is a wonderful example of how to take back your power and become stronger through self-discovery after experiencing the trauma of intra-familial abuse. This book helped me understand the importance of listening and being present for those needing support and brave enough to speak up. This is an extraordinary personal account of her journey and what has helped in her healing process; It is heartbreaking to imagine that we need a book such as Circling The Wagons. That society needs a guide book on how to navigate intra-familial sexual abuse. Deb delivers a candid insight into the internal dialogue of the survivor, whilst gently offering understanding and hope for healing; At times I cried for the little girl whose innocent childhood was so horribly derailed and then for the protection she was denied, the protection she had every right to expect. But I also cried for the adult who has so bravely and determinedly smashed open the dirty little secret hidden by families for generations.
