In this book the most significant diseases relevant for humans and their pets or other domestic animals will be highlighted, such as diabetes, osteoporosis, infertility, autoimmunity and many more. The aim is to illustrate that animals and humans may develop similar diseases, with similar pathophysiologies. The reader thereby shall be i) sensitized to recognize natural models for human diseases, and ii) informed about the current need of such and of experimental models for understanding the pathophysiology of diseases to be able to improve their treatments.
