A picture book about the special relationship between a boy and his grandfather, who stay close even when they are separated by distance.

Grandpa, did you know that if you rub a needle with a magnet, one end will point to the north and the other end to the south? In the south there's an apartment building 160 metres tall. From the balcony, you can see the entire city. There are cinemas and ice cream shops ... and me!

As Henry measures the distance between his new apartment and Grandpa's wooden house under the mango tree, Grandpa works out how close they really are. A moving story that celebrates the bond between a boy and his grandfather.

About the Author

Kate Simpson grew up on a diet of Little Women, Anne of Green Gables and anything written by Enid Blyton, but it didn't occur to her to try her own hand at writing children's books until she was in her thirties. Now she's hooked, and with two small children of her own, she finds she's never short of inspiration. As well as being a picture book author and incurable bookworm, Kate is also a co-host of the children's book podcast One More Page, where she happily spends an hour a fortnight interviewing fellow book-folk and talking all things children's books.

Industry Reviews
'The colourful, double-page illustrations beautifully capture their quirky humour and illuminate the poignant juxtaposition of physical isolation and emotional intimacy that makes this such a moving and heart-warming story of a human connection that transcends mere distance. Highly recommended for kids aged 4+ and perfect for reading with any grandparent.' Readings
