The book consists of Elementary and Pre-intermediate courses with parallel Czech-English texts. The author maintains learners' motivation with funny stories about real life situations such as meeting people, studying, job searches, working etc. The ALARM method (Approved Learning Automatic Remembering Method) utilize natural human ability to remember words used in texts repeatedly and systematically. With the translation on the same page, you can effortlessly learn what any unfamiliar words mean. You can quickly pick up new vocabulary and phrases that are used over and over in the book. As you read the book, your brain begins to remember words and phrases simply because you are exposed to them several times. You don't even realize, until you have to recall what you've learned, that you have already learned the new words and phrases. The audio tracks are available inclusive online. With the help of QR codes, call up an audio file without manually entering web addresses. This book has already helped a lot people to discover their true language potential. Twenty minutes a day is the rule for success!

Industry Reviews

The speaker and audio for this book do an incredible job, because they repeat each vocabularly word at the beginning of the audio session, and speak at a slow pace with emphasis on the syllables so you are guaranteed to understand the words. This was a really good thing by the authors!

The side-by-side translations are very helpful, with introductory vocabulary lists, but the vocabulary lists are incomplete. There are difficult words in the stories that are not defined. Even with these shortcomings, I would recommend the book to learners of the language.

This gives you lots of vocabulary in context, which is more helpful than isolated words. There is, however, no grammar, though through repetition of vocabulary and constructions you can begin to understand some grammatical forms.

Czech grammar is too complex to jump straight into novels after learning the basics. This book is ideal as a first book, with short sentences, all with English translations. Additionally each chapter start with a list of words you will encounter in that particular chapter. I hope there will are more books like this one in the works.
