There are simple and funny Spanish texts for easy reading. The book consists of Beginner and Elementary courses with parallel Spanish-English texts. The author maintains learners' motivation with funny stories about real life situations such as meeting people, studying, job searches, working etc. The ALARM method (Approved Learning Automatic Remembering Method) utilizes the instinctive ability to recognize words and phrases that are used frequently and in a systematic order. With the translation on the same page, you can effortlessly learn what any unfamiliar words mean. You can quickly pick up new vocabulary and phrases that are used over and over in the book. As you read the book, your brain begins to remember words and phrases simply because you are exposed to them several times. You don't even realize, until you have to recall what you've learned, that you have already learned the new words and phrases. The audio tracks are available inclusive online. With the help of QR codes, call up an audio file without manually entering web addresses. This book has already helped a lot people to discover their true language potential. Twenty minutes a day is the rule for success!

Industry Reviews

I've bought and read five such English Spanish bilingual books so far, this was the best because, 1) the stories are not slow, which is important, since we're reading slowly already. 2) words and phrases are repeated often, 3) the words and phrases are common and conversational.

In getting ready for a visit to a Spanish-speaking country, I've been actively trying to resurrect my high school and college Spanish from over 40 years ago. Thus far, this book has been by far the most help in doing so. It makes no assumptions about prior knowledge, using only new words already defined before each chapter, and following with the same story in English, allowing the reader to ensure they really did understand. That the stories are also at least mildly humorous is icing on the cake.

This book is very well done. I bought both the Spanish and German versions (the text is the same for both). It begins very basic and gradually ramps up. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars from is because, at the beginning of the chapter it lists the vocabulary words. I prefer to have vocabulary in the margin of the page. That way you look at the vocabulary words as you come to them.
