God Called, She Answered: Moving Past History and Tradition into Ministry Leadership challenges women to embrace and press into God's plan for their ministry gifts. It explores reasons for the obstacles found in some religious communities. These obstacles are largely based on influences (i.e., ancient cultures, thoughts of philosophers/Church Fathers, widespread interpretations of Pauline scriptures, and established traditions).

This book also delves into other factors felt to be linked to differences between males and females when communicating and processing social situations. Studying these possibilities can help men and women to see and accept the strengths of their counterparts. The result would be a more efficacious ministry.

God Called, She Answered... culminates with counsel from ministry leaders representing varying denominations, ages, and genders. They share wisdom from personal experiences and God-inspired revelations intended to encourage readers who are pressing forward to fulfill God's call on their lives. Geraldine (Gerri) Pinkston received her undergraduate degree in Speech and Hearing Pathology and Audiology. She earned a graduate degree in School Psychology, and a doctorate in Counseling Psychology. She worked as a school psychologist for forty years before retiring in 2019. Dr. Pinkston has authored several children's short stories that were published in Colorlines Magazine. She has also written and directed several plays performed at churches in Connecticut and California.

Dr. Pinkston was ordained and began her church leadership experience in 2000 in Hartford, Connecticut. She was appointed Associate Pastor after moving to Stockton, California in 2005 and later became Assistant Pastor at the Congregation of Zion. In addition to preaching, teaching, mentoring, and supervising, Dr. Pinkston has conducted workshops for ministers and congregates. In 2023, she launched the website: canvasministry.com, a platform for women in ministry to share their gifts with others.
