Today all of us, and most especially our kids, consume at least three times the recommended daily allowance of sugar. And it's not because kids are drinking too many sodas. Added sugar lurks everywhere in our food - in yogurts and bottled salad dressings, in jarred tomato sauce and every kind of baked good, and on and on. And it's a real problem - excess sugar causes obesity, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, fatty liver disease, and tooth decay, while also accentuating anxiety symptoms and increasing the risk of hyperactivity and attention issues.

Here to help concerned parents is a family cookbook specifically written to address the sugar problem while still insuring that kids have lots of kid-friendly foods to eat, including dessert. Functioning like a cross between Eat This, Not That and Deceptively Delicious, Half the Sugar, All the Love is an eye-opening education, an action plan, a program of healthy eating, and a cookbook chockfull of delicious recipes all in one. It shows us how to get shop smartly to avoid hidden sugars. Busts the most common myths about sugar (honey is not healthier, sugar substitutes are a disaster). Gives seven easy tips for globally reducing sugar at home.

Helps us stock our pantries with better ingredients. And then offers recipes for feeding the family, especially kids, with low-sugar versions of foods that are so tasty that nothing is missed, from granolas, yogurt pops, toaster pastries and healthy muffins for breakfast through big-batch sauces to make the tastiest dinners (make the sauces yourself and sugar is no longer an issue), to ingenious desserts - like red velvet cupcakes sweetened with apple sauce or the author's favourite Chocolate and Peanut Butter Snack Cake that gets its sweetness from dates. Seconds, please.
