Mark and Janet Myers have over 30 years of experience in dealing with Substance Use Disorders (SUD), and they address them comprehensively. If you are looking for an all-encompassing guide on how to attack, cope with, and overcome any form of SUD, this book has it. As an expert in dealing with change, I can attest that they address head-on the fear of change, hopelessness, and how to create a desire for the user to change.
What I love about this book is that it provides the family with a roadmap for handling the emotions of stress, anger, feelings of betrayal, guilt, and uncertainty associated with Substance Use Disorders. It is not just the substance user who is affected; the entire family has to deal with this problem, and Mark and Janet will walk you through each step of this journey. Mark and Janet have done an exceptional job addressing the issue of substance abuse, by educating both the individual, the family, and those assisting them. They have taken a very complex topic, and broken it down, and discussed it in a manner which is easy to understand for individuals, families, and all those helping. Above all, they have stayed true to the title of their book, by giving "hope for families in recovery, and helping them find their way back home".
