Hope Jones Saves the World

An inspirational story of one girl’s fight against plastic pollution, showing that you’re never too young to make a big difference.

My name is Hope Jones. I am ten years old. I am going to save the world. Hope Jones’ New Year’s resolution is to give up plastic, and she’s inspiring others to do the same with her website, hopejones.com. When she realises her local supermarket seems to stock more unnecessary plastic than food, she makes it her mission to do something about it. She may be just one ten-year-old with a homemade banner, but with enough determination, maybe Hope Jones really can save the world.

About the Author

Josh Lacey is the author of many books for children including The Island of Thieves, The Dragonsitter and the Grk series. He has worked as a journalist and written one book for adults, God is Brazilian. His first book for children, A Dog Called Grk, was shortlisted for the Branford Boase Award. Josh lives in London with his wife and daughters.

About the Illustrator

Beatriz Castro was born in Logroño, La Rioja, Spain. When she was a little girl, she was always drawing and writing fantastic stories. She studied at the school of arts in her native town, Logroño. After graduating in Illustration from there in 2008, she embarked on a career as a professional illustrator. Her books have been published by many international publishing houses. She loves making colourful images and funny character designs. She likes animals and books, classic stories and fairy tales and listens to rock and punk music.
