Little Women

Generations of readers young and old, male and female, have fallen in love with the March sisters of Louisa May Alcott's most popular and enduring novel, Little Women. Here are talented tomboy and author-to-be Jo, tragically frail Beth, beautiful Meg, and romantic, spoiled Amy, united in their devotion to each other, and their struggles to survive in New England during the Civil War. Four sisters: Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy March, are part of a poor but loving family. With their father off to war, they have only their mother left to encourage them to be the best version of themselves at all times. As they go through love and loss, they truly do learn to become little women.

??? Little Women ???

'Rich or poor, we will keep together and be happy in one another.?'
Christmas won't be the same this year for Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy, as their father is away fighting in the Civil War, and the family has fallen on hard times.
But though they may be poor, life for the four March sisters is rich with colour, as they play games, put on wild theatricals, make new friends, argue, grapple with their vices, learn from their mistakes, nurse each other through sickness and disappointments, and get into all sorts of trouble.
Alcott's the writing was elegant yet poignant and haunting at moments, and perfect for the era it was set in, while the sister's personalities were intricately described throughout the whole book. It gave you a sense of what it was like to be a typical family in the 1800s and subtly showed the feelings of each character.
