About the Authors

Catherine Whitlock's PhD in Immunology at the University of London was followed by ten years of post-doctoral research in cell biology and immunology. More recently she has taught these subjects. She has an ongoing research interest in evaluating the power of science communication initiatives, such as Cafe Scientifique, and having gained a Diploma in Science Communication from Birkbeck College, University of London, she now works as a freelance writer.

Nicola Temple worked as a conservation biologist before becoming a full-time writer, specialising in science and the environment. She has an MSc in Biological Sciences and lives in Bristol, England.
