Joy is hoped for, wished for, sought for, prayed for, and fought for. It is missing, wanted, needed. It is also attainable. It is not an elusive dream or a someday; it can be now.
Oh Da Joy is a series of short life lessons in living joyfully. They are lessons learned from heart-rending loss and laugh-out-loud moments.
This is a conversation, not a thesis or research. It is a discussion from the heart. For in the end, it is with the reader’s heart that they will find a way to live joyfully. This is for those who want to grow in Joy and for those whose smiles cannot really hide their pain and sorrow as they start the journey toward a life of joy and peace.
Let’s share and uncover new Joy together.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
MY NAME IS PAT. Well, technically it's Patricia. I like both my name and my nickname. I'm a wife, mom, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, friend. I'm a teacher, academic challenge coach, pastor, and writer. Remember though that descriptions are not definitions of who we are as people. We are so much more complex than that. Like all people, I've had times of great blessing and times of great sorrow. This is my life, and I have learned to live in Joy. May you have that gift as well.
Industry Reviews
"The advice in this book is so good that I'm going to ask Pat Jewell to be my therapist." - Chip Beall; CEO and Founder of Questions Unlimited and the National Academic Association.
“Oh Da Joy is a joy to read. It asks the right questions and gets us thinking about how we bring joy to our lives and to others. Pat encourages us to live in the moment. Thinking about what might and could happen steals our joy. She cautions, "What one expects is what one finds most of the time." Every chapter ends with a thought provoking message. "Joy comes in being happy with being you, but without needing to make others be you," is imperative to living a life full of joy. We're all different and that's okay. Celebrate that in you and in others.
Will there be days when joy may not lighten your life? Yes, but in those days, there will also be moments when it will. We have to seek joy. We have to create joy. We have to want joy. We have to be joy. Everyone will benefit from Oh Da Joy. The stories allow us all to know that joy can happen in our lives, though we may not always feel joyful, we can live every day in joy, finding it in everything we do.” - Montrie Rucker Adams, author, Just Do Your Dream! Seven Steps to Help You Do What You Always Wanted.
