Now in paperback, a one-of-a-kind collection of interviews about golf and life by golf legend Amy Alcott with her many friends-including professional and amateur golf celebrities such as Bill Clinton, Jack Nicholson, Annika Sorenstam, and Ben Crenshaw.
Golfers love reflecting on the game as much as actually playing it. Stories of the game's mysteries and pleasures are at the core of why so many are dedicated lifelong players and fans. Every golfer has a story, and it is the best of these that LPGA Hall of Famer Amy Alcott shares in The Leaderboard.
A living legend of women's golf, Amy Alcott became close with many of the most famous and influential professional and amateur players throughout her long professional career. Alcott has remained close with many fellow competitors since leaving regular competitive golf, and when counting those players along with her many amateur friends, she has acquired what she has come to regard as a boundless think tank of golf wisdom. Now at age 50, Alcott has brought together these dear friends to share their wisdom and wonderful stories with readers everywhere.
In this collection of rare interviews, Alcott sits down and talks with iconic figures from former President Bill Clinton to Oscar winning actor Jack Nicholson to current LPGA star Annika Sorrentsam. In these candid conversations, Alcott uses the game of golf as an entryway to the personal lives and experiences of entertainers, athletes, and political leaders-all of whom share the bond of a fierce love of the game. These varied individuals came to golf in different ways, and taken together, the interviews present a lively mix of experiences and perspectives. To give the collection a thematic thread, each interviewee was asked to address three key questions: how the game captured them, what it has taught them, and why it continues to matter in their lives. Each contributor was also asked to give the best advice or lesson he ever received, giving the collection a valuable instructional component. Taken as a whole, these varied interviews mark an important contribution to the historic record of the game of golf.
