'Inspiring and powerful... Brinkley is a force of nature.' - Ellidy Pullin, author of Heartstrong

In 2016, Brinkley Davies was in a car that hit a mother kangaroo. She was determined to rear the surviving joey and named her 'Bunji'. Although Brinkley didn't know it at the time, Bunji would become a life-long friend and spark a fire in her to do better for Australia's wildlife, leading Brinkley to eventually set up her own conservation foundation and start campaigning for the rights of animals everywhere.

Including stunning photographs taken by Brinkley herself, charting the growth of Bunji and their incredible bond, as well as the wild and beautiful environments she found herself in through the course of her work as an eco-warrior, Saving Bunji tells the inspiring story of one woman's quest to do better for the planet, and to live a life in tune with nature.

About the Author

Freediver, Surfer, and Marine Biologist by trade, Brinkley has travelled the world for the last decade following her passions for the ocean and wildlife. In 2016 she Founded the Balu Blue Foundation, a DGR-endorsed environmental charity that works to protect Australian wildlife and habitat. Then in 2020, Brinkley launched two new ventures; Bandicoot By Brinkley Jewellery, to help support the conservation projects of Balu Blue with sustainable jewellery collections inspired by the sea, and Wildlife Expeditions, which hosts life-changing expeditions to some of the wildest places on earth. Her overall goal is to reconnect people with nature in an incredibly special way.

Well known in the wildlife/marine conservation realms, Brinkley has worked globally on many different campaigns, speaking up for animals all over the world. She works with many brands, including GoPro and Reef, who are sponsors for her surfing and freediving. Surfing competitively from the ages of 10 to 20 years old, Brinkley is a Padi Dive Master and Freedive Instructor, with a Degree in Marine BSc and 10+ years' experience in the water with marine wildlife. She is also an accomplished photographer and videographer. Saving Bunji is her first book.
