Stickybeak is a duck. He is a school pet and visits students on weekends. This weekend, Stickybeak shows Mum that he is a duck with a mind of his own.

About The Author

Best known for her children's literature classic There's a Hippopotamus on Our Roof Eating Cake, Hazel Edwards is a bestselling author of books for children, teenagers and adults.

Hazel's special imaginary hippopotamus friend has been cherished by children and parents alike and led to the dubious honour of Hazel often being referred to as 'the Hippo Lady'.

Since its publication in 1980, Hippopotamus on the Roof has been reprinted annually, evolved into a series of six picture books and inspired a junior chapter book, as well as a short movie.

A special 30th Anniversary edition of There's a Hippopotamus on Our Roof Eating Cake was published in 2010 together with an exciting new Hippo story, Hooray! There's a Hippopotamus on Our Roof Having a Birthday Party.

The Hippopotamus books have also been translated into many languages as well as into Braille and Auslan signing for the hearing impaired and were presented as an official Australian Government gift to the children of Princess Mary of Denmark. Hazel has also been nominated for the Astrid Lindgren Award and was recently awarded the 2009 Australian Society of Authors Medal. Her hobbies include reading in the bath, swimming and belly-dancing, though not simultaneously.
