Sheila Simmons (Lena, MS) is passionate about cooking and cookbooks. Her interest in regional recipes was originally born during 18 years with Quail Ridge Press in Brandon, MS. A member of the International Association of Culinary Professionals, Sheila serves as Children s Director for Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church (Brandon MS) and is Publisher at Great American Publishers (Brandon MS). She lives in Lena, Mississippi, with her husband, Roger, where they raised two sons Ryan, who is married to Shelbie and father to Trace (Sheila s first grandchild) and Nicholas, who is currently in college with plans to become a farmer. In addition to publishing, cooking, and collecting recipes, Sheila enjoys family, reading, antique cars, and collecting books. Kent Whitaker (East Ridge, TN) has taken his down-home, Southern-style cooking to an art-form. He is the author of numerous titles in the STATE HOMETOWN COOKBOOK SERIES plus three additional cookbooks Smoke in the Mountains, Checkered Flag Cooking, and The Little Gulf Coast Seafood Cookbook as well as several non-cookbook titles. Kent has appeared on the Food Network and other network television stations and frequently hosts cooking classes throughout the South. He writes cooking columns for several newspapers and magazines. Kent and his wife, Allyson, have one son, Macee, and live in East Tennessee with a Golden Retriever, Moses, and a Shitzu, Barney.
