So I am a discerner, now what? Maybe that was your question as you picked up this book. This book was easy to read as it followed April's journey through discovering her gift of the Discerning of Spirits. I haven't experienced near what she has, but it made me feel more comfortable (and less "crazy"!) about the things I have experienced. It encouraged me to open my eyes and ears so I am not tuning those things out, but instead seeking to understand them. She encouraged us in the book to "always dialogue with the Holy Spirit about what you are discerning." He is the one who will help us to understand what is going on, and as she goes on to say, "each person with the discerning of spirits is unique in their gifting." How the Holy Spirit might choose to use this gift in your life might be different than anyone else.
Most of all, this gift is given on purpose, "If we did not need the gift of the discerning of spirits, why would Holy Spirit give it?" It might take some time to figure out, but it "is to be used to profit the Kingdom and bring God's agenda to the earth." We shouldn't be scared of it, but should cultivate it. Those are some of my favorite quotes from the book, and the most impactful to me. I so enjoyed reading about her experiences, and I hope she writes more books!!
