The Crown's second season follows Queen Elizabeth II (Claire Foy) through the late 1950s and early '60s as she struggles to navigate a world that's changing around her. She must face challenges of a new era, from the Suez Canal crisis to the assassination of John F. Kennedy, while preserving both the monarchy and her marriage to the Duke of Edinburgh (Matt Smith).

Beginning with soldiers in Her Majesty's Armed Forces fighting an illegal war in Egypt, and ending with the downfall of her third Prime Minister, Harold Macmillan (Anton Lesser) after a devastating scandal, the second season bears witness to the end of the age of deference, and ushers in the revolutionary era of the 1960s.
