Mr Qwerty worries that his ideas might seem strange ... so he keeps them under his hat. But extraordinary ideas refuse to stay hidden for long.

About the Author

Born in North Queensland, Karla Strambini is the oldest of three sisters. At school Karla was usually found reading, or sitting under a tree inventing stories. After senior year she completed an Honours Degree in English Literature, because she wasn't able to study Art locally. However, she was passionate about both words and pictures and had always wanted to write and illustrate picture books. When her two children were almost grown up she completed a Diploma of Visual Art, and began work on The Extraordinary Mr Qwerty. Karla currently lives and works in Victoria as a Teacher-Aide.
Industry Reviews
The extraordinary pencil drawings will have students exploring the unusual inventions for hours. -- Library Media Connection * Library Media Connection *
Australian author/illustrator Karla Strambini's work will remind adult readers of that time in a child's life when words don't matter as much as illustrations -- LA Times * LA Times *
Australian Strambini's people are reminiscent of English author-illustrator Raymond Briggs' characters; they have a slightly old-fashioned appearance, aided by the predominantly black-and-white pencil illustrations with spot colour. These are imaginative, and highly detailed ... for those 5 and above there will be hours of looking, discussing and wondering in store. Clever and quirky, Mr Qwerty is likely to appeal to many adults, too. * Otago Daily Times *
A picture book that celebrates creativity and imagination...and the courage to share them. * Kirkus *
