The Imperial Naval Staff demanded the development of a destroyer project with powerful weaponry and capable of reaching speed of 40 knots. The project was approved and marked with the symbol "F52", it was included in the financial plan of 1939 "Maru Yon". According to the project, the armament was to consist of three two-barrel 127 mm gun turrets, and two seven-tube torpedo launchers.
Due to the heavy weight of the tubes and the inability of emergency manual control of the launchers, this idea was abandoned. In connection with this, a project was prepared and the construction of the Japanese destroyer with the number 125 later named "Shimakaze" commenced.

'' it sounds impressive..., in my opinion, Mariusz Motyka did a great job of adding all 3d plans together into one book. Now you can get an excellent reference publication for quite reasonable price. Moreover, it covers all possible areas, so you can detail your model inside and outside.'' * DetailScaleView *
This is another superb book in the series and a great addition to any maritime modeller's library. This series is a boon to any ship modeller and is turning into a magnificent collection of titles. The detail included is second to none, and the renderings are so clear that they will be a delight for the superdetailers, particularly if building the beautiful Hasegawa or Fujimi 1:350 scale kits or the Tamiya and Pit Road kits in 1:700. * Britmodeller.com *
