Widely considered to be Wyndham Lewis's most outstanding novel, Revenge for Love is a political thriller set in Britain and Spain against the background of the Spanish Civil War. The protagonist, Percy Hardcaster, is a Communist, living in a world of forgers and fakers, in both the art and political worlds. All appearances are exposed as cynical manipulations as Lewis tries to explore reality and expose the lives of those entangled in the revolution, including Victor and Margot Stamp, twisted into intrigue and machinations outside of their understanding and control that eventually cause their deaths.
