"The Worst Journey in the World" by Apsley Cherry-Garrard is the epic tale of the disastrous "Winter expedition" of the Author and his two companions- Henry Bowers and Dr Edward Wilson - all members of Scott's ill-fated Antarctic expedition to the South Pole, who attempted a scientific expedition in the midst of the Antarctic Winter - in the coldest temperatures found on Planet Earth.

At the behest of the scientific establishment they went in search of some samples of fertilised but unhatched eggs of the Emperor Penguin - believed at the time to contain unknown secrets of evolutionary science. This mission required them to travel at the worst possible time of year, in the perpetual darkness and horrific cold of the Antarctic winter.
Cherry-Garrard's survival through these condition is little short of a miracle, and as he quipped afterwards: "Polar exploration is at once the cleanest and most isolated way of having a bad time which has been devised."

This book is his personal account of that brave, astonishing and terrible journey, and as well as the unabridged text, this Bybliotech ebook contains photography from the expedition, and an original map of the "worst" journey.
