It presents writing design principles and practices that sustain reader attention, enhance readability, and persuade with gentleness. THINK READER is the essential writing resource for government workers, non-fiction writers, technical writers, and scientists who publish papers, reports, brochures and documents for people less experts than they are. THINK READER is applicable across languages since it considers the way we read, and promotes efficient use the brain resources we use for reading, i.e. memory, attention, and knowledge.

One does not learn swimming by watching others swim! Discover your writing style. Find out what does not read well. In short, be your own physician. The last chapter contains interactive multiple choice questions to test your understanding and validate your knowledge gain. The answers are online at the book website.

Industry Reviews

Jean-Luc Lebrun has done a brilliant job of making learning how to write enjoyable as well as informative. His examples of both popular and scientific writing are wonderful, and all is buttressed by scientific principles of memory and attention. I consider myself an expert at memory, attention, and writing, but I still learned a lot. I recommend this to my students, my colleagues, and to everyone.”
DON NORMAN, Prof and Director, The Design Lab at the University of California, San Diego. Former VP of the Advanced Technology Group at Apple and author of “The Design of Everyday Things.”

“Jean-Luc Lebrun’s book “Think Reader” methodically walks you through how to write by putting you in the shoes of the reader. A must for any writer who wants to apply the design principles of effective writing. I highly recommend this book for anyone who writes to communicate ideas for education and business”
