If photos are messages, then Hans Fahrmeyer is one of the most prolific

messengers of today and of classic times. From his apprentice days of

learning his photography craft in the lost art of darkroom developing, you

know this man wrestle more out of an image than most emerging and long

time photographers. It's his use of lens, light, experience and passion

which massages his images to an unexpected portrayal.

But Mr. Fahrmeyer is also part sociologist, psychologist, comedian and life

coach. Watching him in the studio or on location, he can either be the fly

on the wall when he has to be, or the sorcerer, pulling out the best of the

talent in front of his lens.

His latest book, Water Moves, is an illuminating dance of beautiful male

images married with mirrors, water, sensuality and balance. There's a

blend of powerful images with technical insight. The images become

forceful yet arresting. He has produced a collection that mixes the

casualness of the snapshot with the artistry of classical photographer.

His subjects capture the eye for their immediacy, beauty, and movement.

His three previous books (Colors of Men, Between Men and Women, and

Between Men) reflect his stylization. But the new images in Water Moves

are even more lively and stronger then the earlier ones. The photos are a

timeless provocation as Hans demonstrates the gravity of his models into

an art form. Fahrmeyer's use of beautiful muscled men weaves with the

reflective properties of water to create memorable masterpieces.

Water Moves makes one yearn for an encore. In cinema, we know by the

last scene, there's a sequel planned. By the time you get to the last page,

you're hoping for the release of more from Hans Fahrmeyer. Well done.

Industry Reviews

(WATER MOVES features Fahrmeyer's signature blend of male beauty and raw sexuality with provocative images featuring many of the men, Santiago Peralta, Roman Sugatov, Phil Fusco, Nick Ayler, Marcel and dozens of others whose images from Hans have become the favorites of many)

(Photography enthusiasts will likely look back upon the evolution of their art and

place Hans Fahrmeyer among the first photographers to free the male nude from the confines

of myth and fantasy-among the first, frankly, to lead perceptions of male beauty

confidently into the twenty-first century.David Leddick)

(The subjects are intriguing and the photos are beautiful and complicated. He tests the viewers' imagination. Sometimes he plays with the images, adding subjects, viewing them from different sides, and creating arresting shapes and images. So each photograph is carefully constructed and creates a stunning image when completed. Arthur Lambert)

(From the waves of the Atlantic ocean, to the glistening surface of the the swimming pool. From the soapy bathtub, to the heat and pulse rushing from the shower head.To the drops of sweat dripping across your neck, back and slowly down your butt crack. The moist and sensual feel as water moves over a hot, sexy and acutely ready body)

Today, with Twitter, tumblr and hundreds of other sites, images of naked bodies abound. For many, this is a great thing, having an endless supply of penis pictures to enjoy. The downside however is the lack of creativity and quality that comes with an overabundance of orgasmic stimulation. With so many images, the bodies cease to be actual men, and the human piece man becomes secondary to girth, length and level of erection. Artists who didn't just photograph butts and penises, but models, with names and personalities. I remember frequently going back to a site I know many of you have gone to in the past. VistaVideo was the place I first discovered the work of New York photographer and artist Hans Fahrmeyer. Hans and his images on Vista introduced many of us to many models, the most well known being Marcel and Phil Fusco)

(Hans Fahrmeyer has done it again but even better. This is surely his best book in a distinguished series. He has an eye for a strong image)

(Love lighting and posing. The way he use the light and shadow also color

I will following him for sure)

(WATER MOVES has as its theme both water and masculinity. His use of beautiful, muscled men weaves with the reflective properties of water to create aqueous, masculine, hauntingly beautiful images. Grady Harp, April 17)

(I was knocked out when I saw this book. There are so many picture sized books of guys but I think this one is special. The images show attractive guys but they are much more dynamic than most images in books of the male. The images in most books seem very static, but these capture movement. Plus, the images are beautiful in themselves not even considering the subject matter. )
