About the Author

Andrew Pridham AO was Chief Executive Officer of MA Financial Group over its first decade.

In 2020, Andrew was appointed as Group Vice Chairman of MA Financial Group, succeeded in his role as CEO by his two co-founders. At this time, ASX-listed MA Financial Group had grown significantly since its creation in 2009. Today, MA Financial Group has more than 370 staff spread across its offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong and London. It manages approximately $6 billion in assets and has annual revenue approaching $200 million.

Andrew is Chairman of the Sydney Swans Football Club, a leading club in the AFL, and Deputy Chairman of the Sydney Swans Foundation.

Andrew has more than 30 years’ experience in business and investment banking. He spent 13 years at UBS, including time based in Sydney, London and Singapore. Andrew played a major role in building UBS into a market leading position in the Australian market. Aged 29, he was appointed to the role of Managing Director, Head of Investment Banking Australasia, and was a member of the UBS Global Investment Banking Management Committee.

In 1999, Andrew was appointed as UBS’s Global Head of Real Estate and was based in London and ultimately Singapore. During this time he was responsible for UBS’s global real estate investment banking activities with revenues of more than $1 billion per annum.

After leaving UBS in 2002, Andrew founded boutique investment banking business, First Provident Corporation (“FPC”). In 2003, FPC was rated in the top 5 M&A houses in Australia and played a lead advisory role in several high-profile public market M&A transactions, with a combined value of more than $30 billion.

In 2004, FPC was acquired by JPMorgan and Andrew was appointed Head of Investment Banking, Australasia, ultimately becoming its Executive Chairman. During his 6 years at JPMorgan, he played a significant role in growing JPMorgan’s Investment Banking business in Australia.

Andrew was appointed Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in the 2019 Australia Day honours for distinguished service to the investment banking and asset management sector, to sporting groups, and to philanthropy.

Andrew is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Business at the University of South Australia.
