"When Nobody's Home" uncovers and reveals the origins of drug dependency through the lives of individuals who have been impacted by drug dependency anywhere from 5 years to 35 years. This book delves into the deep rooted issues of childhood trauma such as abandonment, neglect, emotional abuse and sexual abuse. And, it is key to remember that trauma of these kinds occurs in families from all of the socio economic spectrums. This book also discusses the impact of the "absent" and "neglectful" father and how the dysfunctional family dynamic has a direct correlation to the decision making process of long term drug dependency, as well as, criminal behavior, dropping out of high school, unplanned pregnancies, domestic violence, ET. Al. Again, as I worked with clients across the entire socioeconomic spectrum, I heard the common theme of an absent, neglectful, or abusive father Understanding a person's thinking and communication style became an important aspect of my investigation because it allowed me to understand the breakdown in communication between my clients and the cultural thinking styles of their parents. Having this information allowed for the appreciation for how a person processed information. When we believe we are helpless and our self-worth is in jeopardy individuals tend to shame themselves into destructive behavior. We can now learn that shame is a made up illusion that can be dispelled when the proper methods of healing are applied to the emotional wound. Understanding the origins of core beliefs and how they can lead to pathological suffering is a requirement needed for healing and change. If an individual is to come to terms with beliefs then it is important to know their origin so they can be put to rest.
