You thought the Floods were gone for good. So did I. Well, so did everyone since the author, Colin Thompson, told us there were only going to be eight books. That's it. Finito. Eight books only. Well... until book nine. I'm sure that's what Colin meant to say the first time around.

Instead of quibbling about how many books were supposed to be in the series, I suppose I should just get celebrating instead. The Floods (a family of wizards) are headed to New York, a city struck hard by the Global Financial Crisis. They've come to save the day by setting up a Summer School for the residents of NYC. Meanwhile, the twins have got a great get-rich-quick scheme - use a spell to get all the toilet paper in the world and then sell it to the poor, desperate consumers at a premium! Brilliant. So millions of people will probably lose millions more dollars but it will all work out fine in the end.

Well, for the Floods anyway. Hey, come on. They're witches and wizards, not some sort of charity.

Written in the trademark Thompson style, complete with hilarious footnotes and sly in-jokes, this much loved/laughed over series is back with a vengeance. As it says on the back cover, for anyone aged 8 to 80!
